How do I anchor an Ekodome to a foundation?

Key steps and responsibilities for securing your dome safely and correctly.

Anchoring an Ekodome is straightforward, but it must be done with care, the correct hardware, and a proper foundation. The dome is delivered with pre-drilled anchor points along the base frame, and anchoring is handled on-site by the customer or their contractor.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. Start With a Proper Platform or Slab

Anchoring only works as intended when the foundation is:
• Fully level
• Structurally sound
• Built to the correct diameter
• Strong enough to hold expansion or lag bolts

Common foundations include timber platforms, concrete slabs, and engineered decks. Your local builder determines the best anchoring hardware based on the exact foundation material.

2. Use the Pre-Drilled Anchor Points

Every Ekodome frame has factory-prepared anchor holes located around the base. These align with your platform and guide where each anchor bolt should be placed.

Do not drill new holes.
Do not move the anchor points.
This protects structural integrity and ensures even load distribution.

3. Choose the Correct Anchoring Hardware

Hardware is chosen based on the type of foundation:

For concrete slabs:
• Expansion bolts or wedge anchors

For timber platforms:
• Heavy-duty lag screws or structural wood screws

For steel or composite decks:
• Appropriate rated self-tapping or structural bolts

Your contractor or engineer should select hardware that meets local code and withstands the loads for your region.

Ekodome does not supply these anchoring bolts because site conditions vary widely, and local code generally dictates the correct type.

4. Anchor Only After the Frame Is Fully Aligned

This step prevents misalignment and future leaks.

Before anchoring:
• Assemble the full frame
• Install all base covers
• Make sure the structure is perfectly circular
• Confirm the frame sits flat, with no gaps
• Adjust if needed

Only anchor after the dome is fully aligned and sitting correctly on the platform.
