What is the maximum weight load, snow load and wind resistance?

Structural Analysis of Ekodomes

According to our independently conducted structural engineering test results, Ekodomes are strong enough to withstand up to Category 5 hurricanes, and more than 140 lbs/sq ft of snow when covered with 8-mm HPL compact laminates.

This means that Ekodomes are able to maintain their structural integrity in the face of winds reaching speeds of 190–200mph. This is the equivalent to those experienced during a Category 5 hurricane, as defined by the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.

It is worth noting that the performance of Ekodomes covered with 8-mm HPL compact laminates is comparable to that of solid polycarbonate and glass panels.

However,  the windload and snowload decrease when 8-mm twinwall polycarbonate is used as the cover panels. For this reason, we only recommend using twinwall cover panels for greenhouse purposes.

Our standard engineering plans include detailed structural calculations, which can be cross-checked with local building codes and requirements to ensure compliance.
